Camp Chief Ouray has a dynamic array of wilderness programs for campers looking for an added adventure! These exciting backcountry programs offer campers the chance to participate in rafting, mountain biking, backpacking, horse packing and surfing adventures!

Sherpa Trips (ages 13-16)
These programs offer campers the opportunity to explore Colorado by foot, raft, bike, or horse while growing strong, working as a member of a team, and learning to live in harmony with our environment.  The adventure starts with 1-2 days of teambuilding and trip preparations at CCO. Groups will then embark on an incredible 4-day adventure in the backcountry.

Sherpa Odyssey(Ages 13-15)- $590
Hiking through Rocky Mountain National Park, mountain biking in Grand County, rock climbing in Estes Park, and rafting down the Colorado River!  It will be a week full of adventure and discovery.

Sherpa Backpacking (Ages 13-15)- $530
Hikers learn backcountry skills during 4-days/3-nights of trekking through spectacular Rocky Mountain National Park. Lush meadows, clear mountain streams, high mountain passes, moose, elk, and more!

Sherpa Rafting (Ages 13-15)- $640
Campers will learn river travel techniques, wilderness living skills, and river ecology while running moderate rapids and enjoying scenic floats on the Colorado River.

Sherpa Horse Pack Trips (Ages 13-16)- $735
Experienced horseback riders will enjoy this real western adventure! With the leadership of qualified CCO staff and licensed guide outfitters, campers will spend their days riding, exploring, and camping in the beautiful mountains of Colorado on horseback.

Sherpa  High Peak  Adventure (14-16)- $530
This program brings wilderness adventure to new heights.  Geared towards the more experienced hiker who desires an added challenge, this mountain adventure is sure to test your limits as we summit Longs Peak, one of Colorado's magnificent 14,000 ft peaks!

Trekker Trips (ages 14-17)
Our Trekker Trips take campers on exciting 2-week expeditions filled with fun and discovery. Campers will experience new adventures, meet new friends, and learn about outdoor living and Leave No Trace principles.

Surf & Turf (Ages 14-16)
This exciting program combines exploration of the canyons of the Southwest with a trip to the Pacific Ocean. During the first week we venture to YMCA Camp Surf in San Diego, CA, where the group will be instructed in surfing, kayaking, sailing, and other water-based activities.The second week we will spend several days stopping at many of the spectacular parks in Utah for day hikes and camping.
